For us the beginning of the work week
has special meaning. We actually look forward to A Monday Night.
From inside an angular West Coast cabin, attended by towering cedars
and Douglas firs, we often hear the lowing of the cows in the field
across the road, or the barking of sea lions along the shores of
Lambert Channel. As two dogs snore on the floor, Canada Geese fly
overhead, adding their honking staccato to a new piece of music
being created below. Whatever it is that provides the natural
catalyst to take an ordinary Monday Night and transform it into a
rich tapestry of creativity is up for discussion. What isn't being
debated is the high sense of musical innovation and skill of the
four musicians that make up THE RANDY DUNCAN BAND. Added to the mix
are a poet-producer and the "World's Worst Roadie". This then makes
a cocktail of musical creativity and diversity that can, on some
nights, be quite magical. From this guitar-based folk/jazz-based
quartet comes a unique West Coast sound that paints pictures,
sketches events, and invokes dreams that carry the listener through
the front door and into the cabin, to feel the warmth of the wood
stove and share the radiant musical heat of A Monday Night.
A Monday Night was recorded, engineered, and mastered at Willow Creek Studio in Victoria by Tim Zurowski. Review: "A Monday Night is a Real Thing For Me..." FEATURED TRACK: Touch Snow:
