Randy's Bio
Music has always been a part of my life, since
I can remember. My Dad had the stereo on all the time playing
his favourites. From jazz to classical, he played it all.
My brother and I started playing guitar together. Our
brother-in-law Danny played guitar and showed us some chords.
I played the guitar upside-down. That is: a right-handed guitar,
holding it left with the low strings on the bottom. it
gives me a different approach to the guitar. Music from
the start was always about writing your own songs. So that
has been my main focus in music; playing and making the
music. I've been privileged to learn and
play with so many great musicians. All I can say is it's
the music that's important; whoever you are, just enjoy the
music and have fun. I have always been
inspired by many styles of music, folk to jazz, funk to blues.
I love it all. Pat Metheny has been a big influence on my
writing. I love playing instrumentals and expressing
myself through the language of chords and notes, feelings and
emotions. I hope you enjoy this sound that THE RANDY
DUNCAN BAND gives you. Back to the band. |
